Arrrrr….Pirate Treats
Posted by sweetdetails on Thursday, September 29, 2011 under Birthday Parties, Cakes, Cupcakes.
A few weeks ago, were asked to create a cake and cupcakes for a very special little boy's First Birthday!
No problem, Rachael's eye-for-design went straight to work.
She makes working with fondant look so easy...
Before I could get set up again, she had everything rolled, cut out and placed on the top tier.
And the bottom tier. Just like that...
Ahoy matey, we have a pirate cake!
After that, the cupcakes were...a piece of cake (pun intended).
The finished presentation...a tower of pirate cupcakes!

After one of our fabulously epic birthday parties for a dear friend, we had multiple people ask us for help with their upcoming events and we realized; this would be a lot more fun if we were doing it for more than just friends and family! Just like that Sweet Details Events & Pastry was born. Now we are expanding our digital hand, albeit covered in frosting, to a fresh new blog.
Here we will spotlight all things party, including events from around the world so we can share the inspiration for fabulous events together! If you find something you feel should be shared let us know!
With our years of planning and preparing parties and events the greatest asset is a little inspiration. You’ve got a party to plan, let’s say for your 8 year-old son. You know he likes Spongebob, basketball, and playing with Legos. He is YOUR baby, but says he doesn’t want a “baby party”. Now what? We’ve encountered this delimma many times and, although it is not a world-changing decision, it is very important to HIM. And, let’s face it, to you….our kids parties are a reflection of us. And our creativity. And our ability to be organized. And be fun. And be a cool parent. And this is where we hope to be of assistance to you
On now to get the frosting off of my hands (by licking perhaps) and get to the business of planning a baby shower for a lovely new mom. I can’t wait to share the photos!

Weddings make us smile. Weddings make us cry. Isn't that the amazing thing about these special days? They allude multiple emotions...happiness, reflection, joy, excitement...we could go on forever. It is a huge honor to be invited to coordinate such a special event. And May 14th, 2011 was no exception.
On a beautiful Spring day in Vista, California, under a canopy of trees and flowers and witnessed by nearly 100 of their closest friends and family members, Mandy and Jesse began their life together.
Mandy doesn't need much "doing up", but Brittany of Brides By Brittany did a fabulous job with her hair and makeup.
Rancho Guajome Adobe is a gorgeous venue. Very open and airy, with acres of property for guests to wander. There's a beautiful old church house for photos, and a simple yet stunning gazebo for the ceremony.
Kristin Genna is an amazing San Diego photographer. She has an amazing eye for beauty and truly captured this couples love on film.
Absolutely one of the best moments of a wedding day, the groom's first sight of the bride. Fortunately, as wedding planners, we get to see these moments when many guests do not. Here's Jesse patiently waiting for his bride.
And the first sight....love the surprised look!
One of my favorite people on the planet is Mandy's dad. He's gentle and kind and just a big teddy bear. This shot is a perfect example of the special bond they share. Very close and always laughing, he's a proud daddy.
Mandy's brother-in-law, Daniel, provided the acoustic music for the ceremony. So simple and romantic!
And there it is....
Another one of my favorite people in the world...Elaine, Mandy's mom, happily performing one of her mother-of-the-bride duties of straightening the dress. She was full of smiles and tears all day!
Couldn't resist adding this picture. Mandy and her brother, Trevor, with my oldest and most amazing daughter, Mikayla. Trev and Mikayla have been besties since birth!
Lovely day, lovely wedding, lovely couple. Thank you to Mandy and Jesse for allowing us to assist you on your beautiful day!
